Great Value Summer Fun

If you are looking for a great value family day out this summer, look no further than Castle Howard.  With all activities included in the admission price - which start at £23.00 for two adults and two children (under 5's go free) – we guarantee your family will be entertained all day and go home exhausted!

In addition to Castle Howard’s child-friendly house tour & guides, plus 1,000 acres of parkland in which to let off steam, play games and enjoy a picnic, children can also enjoy the following at no extra cost:

Geoffrey The Lion Activity Book – free to all children, our puzzle book includes two self-guide trails, one for the House and one for the Grounds.  To complete over lunch, or at home, it also features two word searches and a poster to colour in.

Summer Holiday Story Trails & Crafts – fun interactive story trails start each day at 11.15am.  Stories include Myths and Monsters, The Nosey Bumble Bees, The Lazy Giant and The Rhubarb Crumble Story. Each guided trail will last for approximately 30 minutes.  At the weekends, the afternoon trails will be replaced with ‘crafternoons’ (from Saturday 28th July), our fun hands-on craft workshops.

High-Energy Adventure Playground –featuring 17 high-energy, confidence building pieces of equipment, our playground is suitable for children of all ages and abilities.  Take a seat and watch the children burn their energy or join in the fun – the equipment is adult friendly too!

Ride the Land-Train – our colourful land-train (known as the Kelly Car) runs regularly between the ticket office, house and lakeside adventure playground. Hop on and off at the stops along the way.

Boat Trips on the Great Lake – free for children (with a charge of £1 for each accompanying adult), the excursions are taken aboard The Dame, our elegant pleasure boat.  Explore the wildlife on the lake and enjoy the spectacular views back towards the house.

On Yorkshire Day, Wednesday 1st August, children can meet our mascot - Geoffrey the Lion; while over the August Bank Holiday, Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August we have our Get Active Family Event.  Again all activities are included in the admission ticket.
