David Haynes

We've welcomed a new head chef to our team.

David Haynes joins from another Yorkshire icon, Betty’s café tea room, where he was catering development chef working to create the classic dishes for which the brand is renowned.

In his new role, David will work to produce dishes which focus on fresh, local produce offering a simple yet stylish menu for visitors to enjoy.

David, who has worked as a chef for over 15 years, said: ‘I am really excited to have joined Castle Howard and to begin developing products which compliment this truly iconic stately home. We have a number of cafés and I’m hoping to give each a unique identity so we have something to appeal to all our visitors.’

David’s new Yorkshire scones have already been well received; handmade and freshly baked, the new recipe produces an elegant, light and flavourful scone to which David has added a final flourish with a sprinkling of sugar pearls, giving a touch of grandeur to these stately Yorkshire scones.

The perfect treat on Yorkshire day with a pot of hot Yorkshire tea!
