Community Relations
Castle Howard is one of the biggest employers in the district of Ryedale, employing around 100 permanent and 150 seasonal members of staff across a variety of different departments. It is also our policy to locally source products and services to benefit other local businesses, and through the work undertaken ensure that vital skills, such traditional farming and craftsman skills, through to retail and information technology, are kept in the area.
Castle Howard also has a portfolio of commercial and residential property, further sustaining rural employment and affordable community housing.
We support a range of local initiatives and charitable events in addition to personal support from the Howard family as patrons. The estate has worked closely with North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP) to assist on projects designed to enhance curriculum learning and members of Castle Howard's management team have given presentations and attended career fairs. We regularly welcome students from local colleges who wish to perform or exhibit at Castle Howard.
Work placements are available for horticultural students and the farm, forestry and conservation departments are all working to offer more educational initiatives. Students can also apply to undertake work experience in other areas such as attraction management, marketing, catering and retail.
If you have an education or charitable request please write to Visitor Services, Castle Howard, York YO60 7DA.
