The Howardian Hills are one of North Yorkshire's best-kept secrets. There are many ways to spend an enjoyable day out, from walking through the open fields and woodlands, cycling and horse riding, through to visiting one of the area's historic houses.

Our nearest market town is Malton, which is a thriving rural community just 6 miles from Castle Howard.  Malton is a delightful compact town, which has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay locally, including a great selection of shops and a good supermarket, a lively choice of café bars and restaurants, plus a good Visitor Information Centre.
