Shops & Cafés in the House and Gardens (open to all ticket holders)
The Fitzroy Room
Located on the ground floor of the House, the Fitzroy Room is open to all visitors. The self-service restaurant offers a generous traditional selection of freshly made sandwiches and salads, plus delicious home-made cakes. Between 12.00pm and 2.30pm enjoy a choice of three or four hot dishes from our kitchen. We also offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, including beers and wines. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available and some dishes can be altered to your requirements on request. Seating is available indoors or outside in the Boar Garden. Open daily when the House is open between 10.30am and 5.00pm.
The Lakeside Café
On the shore of the Great Lake and adjacent to the adventure playground the Lakeside Café is ideal for families. The self-service offer includes hot and cold drinks, home-made cakes, sandwiches and soup. Seating is available indoors and outside by the playground. (Please note the Lakeside Café decking overlooking the Great Lake is closed until early May for refurbishment.) The Lakeside Café is open from 11.00am until 4.30pm at weekends and during school holidays (daily between May and September). Get there by foot or jump on the land train at the ticket office or House entrance!
Lakeside Ice Cream Kiosk
Visit our new Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream kiosk at the lakeside for a delicious selection of tempting flavours. Each recipe contains lashings of fresh milk and double cream, churned with butter and sugar; with only natural ingredients such as real fruit flavourings, luxury chocolate pieces, or crunchy cinder toffee chunks added. Open at weekends and during school holidays from 11.00am.
The House Gift Shop
Browse the House Gift Shop for a special range of gifts and souvenirs inspired by the House and its collections. Ranges include ceramics, books, prints, ladies gifts and accessories, plus a range of children's toys. The House Gift Shop is located on the ground floor of the House and is open to all visitors.
Shops & Cafés in the Stable Courtyard (free admission)
Find out more about the great shopping in our Stable Courtyard. All outlets are open daily all year from 10am until 5pm with free admission and parking.
The Courtyard Café
The Courtyard Café is located in the Stable Courtyard before the ticket entrance to Castle Howard. Our chefs change the menu seasonally, using local produce where possible; as well as meat sourced from our Farm Shop; to create a great selection of favourite traditional dishes - all served with a modern 'twist'! All our food is prepared fresh to order, and we accommodate vegetarian and gluten free diets as standard. If you have any special dietary requirements please speak to our staff and any dish will be altered to your specification. Our fully licensed 'bistro' style restaurant has table service, with plenty of seating inside and out. The Courtyard Cafe is open all year from 10.00am until 5.00pm (4.00pm in winter, except weekends) with free entry.

The Carriage House

The Farm Shop
Before you leave make sure you pop into our Farm Shop for some tasty local food. Our butchery team will be on hand to serve you the best local meats, most sourced within 15 miles of Castle Howard. Treat yourself to a selection of handmade burgers and sausages perfect for summer BBQs, or take home some Castle Howard Baking for a teatime treat!

The Chocolate Shop
If you have a sweet tooth you will delight in the ranges available in our Chocolate Shop. Choose handmade chocolates from Ryeburn of Helmsley, children's confectionery ranges plus chocolate bars and novelty gifts. You can also take home a handtied arrangement from Queens Flowers or place orders for bouquets and seasonal arrangements.

The Plant Centre
Just a short walk from the Stable Courtyard is our unmissable Plant Centre which sells everything for the garden and more... Overseen by our Plant Centre Manager John Foxton - who has over 40 years experience of gettings his hands dirty in the garden - it's the perfect place to pop in for some expert gardening advice and tips.
