Tree Nursery

Castle Howard’s Tree Nursery opened in 1957 in the area to the west of Castle Howard, known as Sand Hills, near the North York Moors National Park.  The light acidic soils meant that this area proved to be an excellent site for growing top quality forestry trees. 

Since its early days the Tree Nursery has expanded to cover twenty acres and today has an excellent reputation throughout Yorkshire for producing grade-one forestry, amenity and hedging plants.

Castle Howard Tree Nursery is managed by Head of Forestry Nick Cooke.  His team operates a wholesale business selling estate-grown trees and hedging between November and April.  All enquiries please call 01653 648646.
