January: Let the Good Times Continue

January: the month of broken New Year’s resolutions, fad diets, health kicks and unused gym memberships. Having over indulged at Christmas we look around us for a quick fix and promise ourselves that we won’t give up this time.

We’ll count those calories and down those smoothies (while pinching our noses and pulling the inevitable ‘after-face’) but why do this to ourselves and make January more stressful than it already is? The excitement of Christmas has gone and it’s back to work for many of us. We don’t need to be worrying about what the next Gwyneth Paltrow inspired dietary craze is. This January, make it simple: eat well and eat fresh.

Healthy food doesn’t have to be bland and boring and nor does it need to come with complicated instructions. Instead of following the fads, why not try adding more fresh ingredients to your daily routine or choose foods made with quality and care or even just try something a little bit different?

To get you started, on offer this month is our exciting new range of healthy (but delicious!) snacks and with 20% our gluten-free ranges there’s something tasty for everyone. Why not try substituting your normal biscuit of choice for Rude Health’s ginger and turmeric oaties? Wonderfully moorish, these little goodies are soft and earthy with a zing of warm ginger and are bound to make your tea break a little more nourishing.

Rude Health (from the old British saying ‘in rude health’ meaning ‘up for life and bursting with energy’) are just one of our healthy snack suppliers and they are on a mission to make healthy eating exciting and easy. Vowing not to use any artificial or refined ingredients (that’s no thickeners, preservatives, colourings or flavourings!) the folk at Rude Health source their ingredients straight from nature. Co-founded by Nick and Camilla Bernard in their own small kitchen, Rude Health has blossomed into a fully fledged team who are proud to stand up for real, honest food.

The proof is always in the tasting. Why not try one of their gluten and dairy free drinks available at the Farm Shop? With a selection including almond, oat and coconut these delicious drinks are refreshingly cool and creamy and while fantastic on their own, try adding them to a warming winter soup like leek and potato or spiced butternut squash.

So let’s not make January all doom and gloom. Let’s make it delicious! There’s no need to punish ourselves for last month’s little *ahem* festive indulgence. Instead, let’s celebrate all the food that’s brilliant this season and give something new and exciting a go!

Our Farm Shop and Butchery is open 10am – 4pm Monday to Sunday.
