Exhibition: Regency Episodes from Castle Howard
Event Type: Event for all

Inspired by the successful Bridgerton series Regency Episodes from Castle Howard provides a glimpse into the colourful comings and goings of the Howard family during the early years of the 19th century.

Regency England was a lively time with great social change as well as revolution in the air, from overthrowing tyranny in France to adopting new fashions and styles of dress. Aristocratic life for the Howards consisted of balls, dinners, and travelling across England to stay with friends and relatives. There was the all-important London season with its mission to be seen amongst the elite in the capital, and to find husbands for daughters. There were opportunities to travel to Europe once Napoleon had been defeated, as well as family loss at the battle of Waterloo. Closer to home there was the problem of how to behave, what to wear, and how to entertain guests, as well as managing difficult family members and eccentric friends.

Regency Episodes from Castle Howard is a mini exhibition inside the House, accompanying the exhibition are costumes and three rooms set for Regency events which can be seen with a House and Gardens ticket. Book your tickets here.
