Harvest Festival: 'A Still Life' Autumnal Workshops
Event Type: Event for all

Join tutors from 'A Still Life' for a choice of two fantastic workshops inside Castle Howard during the Harvest Festival. Each 2.5 hour class will focus on different autumnal subjects and help you to capture the essence of the season for yourself.

A Floral Harvest – A Floral Painting Workshop: Thursday 26th September 2019 at 11am

To take time and study the captivating details within a flower is simple, pure pleasure; the marriage of colour, the decorative markings and the gentle scent. This workshop is perfect for those who would love to learn how to observe and paint such beautiful details. To take time to study and engage in creating marks and brush strokes that help form and capture the beauty of a flower.

This workshop is led by A Still Life and their tutors Vicky Trainor (who works as a Textile Designer and Stylist) and Kirsty Johnson (who is as a creative florist in North Yorkshire). They will guide you to observe details and transfer the essence and mood from a considered selection of blooms, all from the last harvest of cuttings from the gardens. Perfect for those who want to gently engage and be introduced to floral painting for the very first time or for those who would just appreciate the time to re-kindle their passion and enjoy a moment that is creative, calming and beautiful.

A Study of Autumn – A Botanical Drawing & Painting Workshop - Friday 27th September 2019 at 11am

The change in our landscape, as Autumn settles into place, is such an inspiring time of year. Within this beautiful drawing and painting workshop we extract the details of these changes from a collection of found botanicals from the Castle Howard Estate and explore beautiful palettes and textures.

This workshop is perfect for those who want to gently engage and be introduced to drawing and painting for the very first time or you may wish to bring back to the surface skills from years past. There is also a place for those who would just love the time to re-kindle their passion and escape into two hours of creative indulgence.
This workshop is led by A Still Life and their tutors Vicky Trainor (who works as a Textile Designer and Stylist) and Kirsty Johnson (who is as a creative florist in North Yorkshire). They will guide you through a series of interesting techniques and approaches that will help you capture the essence of this beautiful season.

Both events are priced at £20.00 per person. Admission for the House & Gardens should be booked separately and is not included in the price of the class.
