La Boheme
Richard Jones' new production of La Boheme returns with new casts portraying the young Parisian couples for whom the excitement and sophistication of a big city too soon gives way to hard lessons and heartbreak - as Mimi and Rodolfo are to learn.

Their first meeting is a classic of romantic seduction, while in her Waltz Song Musetta perfectly embodies the nature of carefree youth as she unashamedly taunts her on-off lover Marcello. In its wonderfully evocative music, Puccini's poignant favourite follows the journey from a bare garret to the crowded streets, and a bleak morning on the edge of the city, whilst its rich lyricism captures perfectly the sensation of new emotions keenly felt.

Puccini's romantic depiction of bohemian Paris, with memorable music and a love story drawn from everyday life, has captivated audiences around the world, making La boheme one of the best-loved of all operas. It was first performed in Covent Garden in 1897 and has had more than five hundred performances there since.
