Put your walking boots on and explore the beautiful estate, which is situated within the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Home to over 200 listed buildings and monuments, there are excellent walking routes in and around the estate for those who like to explore on foot. From short strolls to all-day rambles, providing the perfect opportunity to admire the beautiful countryside


The bridleways and quiet lanes around the area are ideal for cyclists of all levels. Whether you are looking for a slow and relaxing bike ride along a country road or a full day’s challenge on bridleways, there is a cycle track right for you.


The Great Lake is just next to the Holiday Park and offers stunning views towards the house; enjoy a stroll along the water's edge or Holiday Park residents can do a spot of fishing.


Castle Howard’s shops are conveniently close, and stock extensive ranges of groceries, books, homeware, gifts, plants and more.

If you want a hearty breakfast or a long relaxing lunch, visit one of Castle Howard's cafés. From formal meals, to takeaway coffee and cakes, you will find something for every taste and budget.
