After assessing the Grounds and the facilities around the site, we have decided to reopen the House (Christmas in Narnia) and most of the Gardens as normal tomorrow (Sunday 28th November).
Overnight forecasts are predicting possible ice and sleet so we'd ask all visitors to be careful if making the journey to us tomorrow and whilst walking around the Estate. We'd also as that you keep an eye out for any hanging or damaged branches on the back of the storm.
Our teams are now working hard to prepare to welcome you back tomorrow! Thank you for your patience and understanding today.
Having assessed the current weather on site and the updated forecast we have taken the difficult decision to close the House and Gardens today, Saturday 27th November. Due to the density of trees within the Gardens, and also having taken advice on the large Christmas marquee structure, we are concerned about the health and safety of our visitors and staff. With several areas of the site being closed we do not feel the ticket price justifies the experience guests would have today. All ticket holders will receive an email from See Tickets offering an exchange or refund, and we will be working to add extra capacity, time slots and opening days to our Christmas schedule to ensure we can re-allocate todays ticket holders into alternative sessions. Please do bear with us and we would advise you not to ring Castle Howard, to claim a refund using the contact form, or to look to move your booking to an alternative date, please click here.
The Courtyard outlets, the Farm Shop, Coffee Shop and Garden Centre will be open today as normal as these areas are free to visit. Please do not ring Castle Howard, as our staff resource is limited and you may not get through. For any ticketing enquiries please contact See Tickets via the link above.
We're sorry for any disappointment caused, but thank you for your understanding.
Stay safe!
