Magnificent 18th-century Castle Howard, built by Sir John Vanbrugh for Charles Howard, the third Earl of Carlisle, is widely acknowledged as one of England’s finest historic houses. It remains home to the Howard family, generations of whom have welcomed visitors to enjoy the house and grounds; a welcome extended today by the Hon. Simon and Mrs Howard.
