Opening Times and Prices

The Gardens and Skelf Island Adventure Playground are open daily, from 10am (9am for Friends of Castle Howard) with last admission at 4pm.

The House is open from 19th May (17th and 18th Member preview days). Free flow admission 10.30am – 1pm, with a daily guided tour at 2pm

Pre-booking online is essential.

Our team will be managing the capacity of the adventure playground area at busy times. This may mean that you will be asked to queue or limit the time you spend on the playground to 2 hours subject to demand. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

The Coffee Shop is open daily 9am - 5pm.

The Boathouse Café is open from 10am - 3pm (Mon-Fri) and from 10am - 4pm on weekends, both offering a grab-and-go takeaway offer.

The Fitzroy Café is open with table service for al fresco elevenses, light lunches and cream teams from 11am - 4pm (subject to good weather).

The Castle Howard Farm Shop and Garden Centre are open daily from 10am - 5pm with social distancing measures in place.

We are a 'cashless site', so please be prepared to pay by card/phone.

The Courtyard and boathouse toilets are open with accessible toilets, and the baby changing facilities. There are additional hand hand sanitiser stations in and around the House and Gardebs

Please note that the Kelly Car land train and Boat 'The Dame' will not be operating until further notice.

We are required to record the information of all visitors over the age of 16 for Test & Trace, which will be kept for a period of 21 days. Please download the NHS Test & Trace app prior to arriving so you can scan the QR code upon entry. Details can also be taken manually on site if you don't have access to this service.

 

Friends of Castle Howard Tickets

Gardens only tickets, and self guided House and Gardens tickets are included within your membership.

Please click the link below to book your tickets, please enter your full membership number as it appears on your membership card when prompted (including 'MEM' if applicable). You will receive a 6 digit booking reference at the end of the booking process, please bring this number and your membership cards with you to the Ticket Office.

Private House tours are available 7 days a week at 2pm from Monday 17th May.  Private House tour tickets cost £12 for Friends of Castle Howard.

Non-Members Tickets

For all visitors of Castle Howard excluding Friends of Castle Howard.

Yorkshire's Great Houses, Castles and Gardens members, MAX card holders, York Pass holders and guests in Castle Howard's Holiday Cottages should use the tickets below to book visits to Castle Howard.

 

 

Self Guided House & Gardens Tickets

The House will reopen to the public on Wednesday 19th May. Admission for self guided tours will be available from 10.30am to 1pm, 7 days a week.

Adult £22.00

Child (Aged 4-16) £12.00

Under 4 Years - Free (no need to pre-book a ticket)

Family (1 adult and up to 3 children) £43.00

Family (2 adults and up to 3 children) £65.00

The Gardens are open daily from 10am, last admission is at 4pm with the Gardens closing at 5pm.

This ticket is valid for one specified date.

Historic Houses

Castle Howard regrets to say that following discussions with Historic Houses, and given the exceptional current circumstances, it has not proved possible to continue the membership access scheme for the gardens and house.

Track and Trace

Government COVID 19 guidance states that all attractions must keep a record for 21 days of who is on site. This is in case it is needed for NHS Track and Trace purposes.

This record will be held confidentially then securely disposed of. We are committed to keeping your personal information secure. We will never use it for any other purpose without your permission or share it with other organisations for marketing purposes.
