Castle Howard, was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in the late 17th century and is one of the most iconic stately homes, garden, and landscapes in Britain. The estate is recruiting for a Head of Landscape and Gardens with a strong vision for an outstanding garden of huge historical and horticultural interest, who can follow in the steps of the likes of Nesfield and Jim Russell. The extraordinary 1000 acres of designed landscape and gardens, which lie at the heart of its 9000-acre estate, are a prime example of the ‘English heroic’ style and are of significant global importance. In addition to 12 acres of walled gardens, two lakes, cascades, fountains and formal gardens. The estate also boasts Ray Wood, an exceptional woodland garden containing the finest rhododendron and azalea collection in the North of England, managed in collaboration with RBG Kew.
