Castle Howard Estate are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join our friendly and collaborative team, based at the Estate Offices. As part of a small, busy finance team, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function, supporting the Finance Manager to improve business performance and enable future growth. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s most iconic historic estates, welcoming thousands of visitors every year. We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Visitor Operations Supervisor to join our team on a fixed-term contract until January 2026. This role is central to the smooth running of our ticket office and admissions team, ensuring every visitor receives a warm, efficient, and memorable welcome. You’ll also play a key part in supervising our Volunteer Room Guides in the House, helping to create a collaborative and supportive front-of-house culture. As part of the management team, you will also act as Duty Manager, taking responsibility for the visitor experience, operational standards, and staff support across the site.

We are seeking a reliable, positive and hardworking bareroot Tree Nursery Assistant to support daily operations at our nursery. This role involves hands-on work with bareroot trees, general nursery maintenance, and tractor operation. The ideal candidate will have experience working outdoors, be comfortable with physical tasks, and demonstrate safe, responsible equipment use. Key Responsibilities •Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting bareroot trees. •Perform tasks such as grading, bundling, trimming, and preparing trees for shipment. •Operate tractors and related equipment for field preparation, cultivation, transport, and general nursery work. •Maintain and inspect tractors and implements, reporting any issues to the supervisor. •Carry out irrigation setup, maintenance, and monitoring. •Assist with weed, pest, and disease management. •Load, unload, and transport nursery stock and supplies. •Maintain clean and organized work areas, including fields, storage areas, and equipment sheds. •Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a positive team environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands on Farm Shop Supervisor to support the delivery of our Retail Strategy within the Castle Howard Farm Shop. This is an exciting opportunity to champion exceptional food, drink and home gifting in a truly unique setting, while ensuring the highest standards of customer service and retail excellence. As Farm Shop Retail Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in the daily running of the shop from maintaining stock and food safety standards to motivating and coaching the team. You’ll help drive sales, improve product ranges and create a welcoming, hospitality-style experience for every customer.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our Food & Beverage team at Castle Howard. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment, supporting the delivery of outstanding food and service across our catering outlets and events. The key responsibilities include, manage the daily operations over our three main F&B outlets - Courtyard Café, Boathouse Kiosk, and Fitzroy Café ensuring seamless functionality and delivering a quality and standard of food aligned with the Castle Howard brand. Work closely with the Executive Head Chef and other senior Food and Beverage managers to ensure the smooth running of the catering outlets, ensuring all food safety due diligence is complete and the policy is always adhered to. Manage, train and guide a team, with a positive approach to the development of more junior colleges and apprentices. Be involved with the planning and delivering of banqueting and hospitality events. Create weekly seasonal specials with produce derived from the wider estate, walled garden and Farm Shop. Work closely with the Executive Head Chef to develop and create new menus, and concepts, using experience and knowledge to deliver on budget and within time sensitive parameters. On occasion organise and run pop up catering at events across the Castle Howard estate.
