Castle Howard, one of Britain’s most iconic stately homes, is seeking a visionary Head of Landscape and Gardens to lead the stewardship and development of its extraordinary grounds and gardens. Designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in the late 17th century, Castle Howard’s grounds are a globally significant example of the ‘English heroic’ style, featuring formal gardens, lakes, cascades, fountains, and the celebrated Ray Wood - home to the finest rhododendron and azalea collection in Northern England and curated in partnership with RBG Kew. This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of a living landscape steeped in history and natural beauty. You’ll lead a talented team in preserving and enhancing the estate’s horticultural legacy, while delivering an inspiring visitor experience and championing sustainable land management.
