The Castle Howard Arboretum is home to one of the UK’s most successful Red Squirrel breeding programmes. Since the programme started in 2023, 15 kits have been born and have gone on to partner breeding programmes, and into the wild at suitable locations in Wales.
Announcing a new arrival: A young male has arrived at the Castle Howard Arboretum! He is taking time to acclimatise in his new nest and will be viewable to the public in the Red Squirrel Enclosure from Monday 25th May.
