Estate Caretaker at Castle Howard
40 hrs per week • Rota across 7 days • Accommodation Provided

Castle Howard is seeking a practical, reliable, and professional Estate Caretaker for this unique live-in role, combining estate maintenance, security, and the care of an internationally significant art collection.

The Role

You will:

  • Handle and help care for the Castle Howard Collection (art, furniture, decorative objects).
  • Carry out security duties including keyholding, patrols, monitoring alarms/CCTV, and first-response.
  • Support maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and the safe running of estate systems.
  • Assist with events, VIP visits, filming, and day-to-day operations.
  • Help maintain high standards of presentation across public and private areas.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical maintenance skills and experience in site or building security.
  • Understands fire safety and Health & Safety principles.
  • Is physically capable of lifting/moving objects safely.
  • Is calm, trustworthy, discreet, and customer-focused.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
    Heritage experience, First Aid, and IT skills are desirable.
