We are delighted to share that the Tapestry Drawing Room at Castle Howard has won 'Restoration of a Georgian Interior' at the Georgian Group Architectural Awards. Recognised for using traditional materials and techniques where possible, the award statement noted the commitment to employing traditional techniques, including onsite run plasterwork made in the traditional way. Also noted was the fact that 'everything in the room, apart from the antiques, paintings, and tapestries, was made in the UK within the past eighteen months.' We are delighted to have worked with architect Francis Terry, designer, artist and decorator Alec Cobbe and interior designer Remy Renzullo to bring this vision to life. The Tapestry Drawing Room was destroyed by a colossal fire in 1940. Restored in 2025, the room features tapestries that were originally woven for the room in 1706 by John Vanderbank.
