The role of the Gardens/Landscape department is to cultivate and protect the rich variety of the extraordinary historic landscape of Castle Howard.

The Horticulturist holds a senior supervisory position concentrating on horticultural craft elements predominantly within the Grounds, but at times also in the Grade I listed Park.

A priority is to maximise visitor enjoyment by maintaining excellent standards of presentation and plantswo/manship within the gardens of Castle Howard, including borders, planters and with houseplants, in accordance with agreed work plans.
