Stately Home Cleaner & Household Team Member
30 hours per week, weekend and bank holiday working will be required as part of a rota.

Castle Howard is seeking a hardworking, detail-oriented and enthusiastic individual to join our Household Team as a Stately Home Cleaner & Household Team Member.

This is a unique opportunity to work within one of the UK’s most celebrated historic houses, helping to care for and present extraordinary interiors, collections and visitor spaces to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring Castle Howard remains welcoming, immaculate and beautifully presented for visitors, guests and private events throughout the year.

The Role

Working as part of the Household Team, duties will include:
•    Cleaning and maintaining historic interiors, public rooms, offices and staff areas
•    Dusting and caring for delicate surfaces, furnishings and decorative objects
•    Vacuuming, polishing and floor care across a range of historic spaces
•    Assisting with room preparation for tours, events and private functions
•    Supporting housekeeping operations during peak visitor periods and special events
•    Monitoring cleaning stock levels and reporting maintenance concerns
•    Following safe working practices and conservation-aware cleaning methods
•    Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Estate and House teams

About You

We are looking for someone who:
•    Takes pride in delivering exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and presentation
•    Has a positive, reliable and flexible approach to work
•    Is able to work independently and as part of a team
•    Has excellent attention to detail
•    Is physically capable of carrying out manual cleaning duties
•    Is respectful of working within a historic environment
•    Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is desirable, although full training will be provided

Experience within hospitality, hotels, visitor attractions or heritage settings would be advantageous but is not essential.
