A fire broke out at around 11pm at Castle Howard on Monday 25th November. The cause of this fire is as yet unknown but is thought to be an electrical fault. The fire was located in a garage near the estate office away from the main house and public areas and was contained and brought under control by the fire brigade.

The damage caused by the fire has resulted in some downtime in our main visitor operating systems such as ticketing, telephone and internet services. We are working hard to resolve these issues and hope to have all systems restored this morning; our Christmas opening remains unaffected however we have limited card payment facilities and would advise visitors to bring cash or cheques.
