Happy Valentine's Day! We're offering one loved-up individual the opportunity to surprise their unsuspecting other half with the ultimate proposal – live on the stage during our annual Proms spectacular, which takes place on Saturday 3 August 2019.
“This is an opportunity for someone who really wants to share their love with the whole world, so probably not for shrinking violets. We’re offering one spot on the stage during our Proms concert for someone to pop the question,” explains head of marketing, Abbigail Ollive – they will be serenaded by our guest performers, Wynne Evans and Sarah Fox, and assuming the answer is ‘yes’, we’ll fill thesky with fireworks which will make for the most amazing proposal photographs and video footage – an Instagram influencer’s dream!”
The Proms team has planned the event so that the person who will receive the proposal will have no idea – they will join VIP ticket holders for a special champagne reception in the house – familiar to anyone who has seen ‘Brideshead Revisited’ - before being escorted down to a special seating area.
“The £175 VIP package is already very popular, with ticket holders securing some of the best seats in the grounds for the al fresco concert – these make a fantastic Valentine’s gift for any romantic couple – but we hope to find the right person who is looking to make a spectacular proposal to join us for the evening,” adds Abbi. “With thousands of concert goers in the grounds, it would be easy to invite friends and family along to share the occasion without being spotted in the crowds, too.”
Anyone wishing to be considered for the special proposal package will need to submit up to 250 words and/or a video lasting up to three minutes explaining why they should be chosen. The winner will need to purchase standard VIP tickets, with the celebratory extras provided with the compliments of Castle Howard.
Tickets for Castle Howard’s Proms are already on sale, with early bird tickets available until 31 March priced at £33 for adults and £5 for children (plus booking fees for online transactions).
