Castle Howard and The Pre-Raphaelites
Join our Curators as they reveal the relationship between the Howard Family, and a circle of renowned 19th century artists and poets known at the Pre-Raphaelites.

In a period dominated by industrial, political and social reform, this movement of pioneering artists were responsible for many controversial masterpieces in a variety of forms throughout the 19th century.

With a chance to see both physical evidence in the design and decor of the House, and letters and documents within the archive. All evidence portrays a close relationship between the 9th Earl & Countess of Carlisle and figures such as designer William Morris, and artist Edward Burne-Jones.

You should arrive at the Estate for 6pm, the event will begin at 6.30pm and will finish at around 8.45pm. Light refreshments will be provided on the evening.

Tickets are priced at £25.00 per person, or £20.00 per person for Friends of Castle Howard. Your ticket includes and illustrated talk, exclusive access to archive material and refreshments.
