Christmas at Castle Howard

Each year Castle Howard is transformed when the house is hand decorated for the festive season.

Open daily from Saturday 17 November to Monday 31st December (Excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day).

Enjoy a varied programme including live music, visits from  Father Christmas and his friends, market stalls and much more. The full programme will be announced on our website shortly.

This years theme will see the House decorations inspired by the '12 Days of Christmas', so be prepared for Leaping Lords, Laying Geese and Partridges adorning the rooms and spaces.

Following huge success in 2017, returning to castle Howard for Christmas 2018 are creative producer and co-director of Oxford Shakespeare Company and Lamplighter Drama, Charlotte Lloyd Webber, and award-winning Canadian theatre designer, Bretta Gerecke.  They will join the Howard family and site team to transform the house into a remarkable Christmas experience that feels like a theatre performance – but without live performers.

Seasonal favourites including live music, cosy Christmas market stalls, audiences with Father Christmas much more! Visit our What's On pages for more information.

Our range of cafes and shops, including farm shop and garden centre, offer the perfect opportunity to stock up on all you need for your own magical Christmas. Visit our Tickets and Admission page for full details on opening times and prices

Generous discount is available for advanced group bookings, please contact for more information, or call our team directly on 01653 648621.
