As twilight falls and the Arboretum settles into evening, discover a hidden world that comes alive after dark. The noises we pick up will help us identify the species that we find. Please wrap up warmly and bring a torch!
Guided by expert Dr Barry Wright, you’ll explore the landscape at dusk, learning about the fascinating lives of bats and their vital role within the Estate’s ecosystem. Using bat detectors, we’ll tune into the high-frequency calls that are usually beyond human hearing, transforming faint night-time flickers into identifiable species.
This relaxed and informative walk offers a rare opportunity to experience the Arboretum at a completely different time, in the fading light of day.
The walk will commence at 7.30pm.
