Castle Howard’s 21st Century Renaissance
"There is nowhere on Earth like Castle Howard." - The Times
After
stages of planning beginning in 2019, Castle Howard finally
unveiled its once-in-a-generation transformation project in April 2025 - the 21st
Century Renaissance, including the restoration of the breathtaking
Tapestry Drawing Room, which had previously been destroyed in a fire in
1940.
The project included a
complete rehang of Castle Howard's art collection, inspiring revamped
areas including the Long Gallery and the Grand Staircase, and has been
the result of the work of dozens of craftspeople.
The
21st Century Renaissance project has become a living example of
commitment to restoration and conservation of this historic country
home, and visitors are able to experience this incredible
transformation.
Please note that the House is currently closed and will reopen 20th
March.
