2. Membership Overview
Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
It entitles the named holder(s) (“the Member”) to access benefits during public opening hours.
Membership is non-transferable and only valid for those named on the card.
3. Membership Cards
Must be presented upon entry and retained during visits.
Are not valid for group, school, or promotional entry.
Guest cards are valid only when used alongside a named cardholder.
Replacement of lost/damaged cards incurs a £5 fee.
Remain property of Castle Howard.
4. Access and Conditions
Access is only during standard public opening periods, subject to seasonal changes and closures.
Castle Howard may amend opening dates/times without notice.
Entry may be refused for breach of these Terms or inappropriate conduct.
5. Loyalty Scheme
Gold Members: 10% of qualifying spend = 1,000 points per £10 (£1 value).
Silver Members: 5% = 500 points per £10 (50p value).
Points are earned/redeemed only on qualifying café/shop purchases.
Points expire upon membership expiry unless renewed before the expiry date.
Guest cards cannot earn or redeem points.
Points are not awarded on redemptions or excluded items (e.g., alcohol, newspapers).
6. Membership Benefits

Special events, previews, or ticket offers are for Members only and subject to availability.
Benefits are subject to change without notice.
Email is the primary method for communicating updates and offers, it is the members’ responsibility to keep preferences and personal details up to date.
7. Gold Member Exclusive Benefits
Includes Arboretum visits, Boat Trips (when available), and selected event discounts.
Offers are subject to availability and conditions from third-party promoters.
8. Ryedale Membership
Includes 3 complimentary children’s passes per named Member
Is validated by a valid postcode.
8. Payments and Renewals
Direct Debit: either Annually or Monthly (balance payable over 10 months)
Monthly: A payment equivalent to 2 months’ membership will be taken when purchased and the balance is then payable over 10 months
Annually: Full payment will be taken when purchased and the Direct Debit will come not effect upon renewal.
10% discount applies to Direct Debit payments.
Membership begins immediately upon purchase, whether online, by phone, or in person.
Renewal reminders sent one month prior to expiry
You have 14 days to renew membership after this time points will be lost and a new membership will need to be taken.
Auto-renewal for Direct Debit unless notice is given at least 10 days before expiry.
9. Data Protection and Privacy
Personal data (including photo ID) is required for card validation and will be securely held.
Data used to manage membership and communicate offers/events.
Information may be shared with third-party providers strictly for service delivery.
You may opt out of communications, but some emails form part of membership services.
Data is processed in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
10. Liability
We are not liable for business losses or losses resulting from misuse of the Membership.
11. Cancellation (Online & Phone Sales Only)
You may cancel within 14 days of purchase (the “cooling-off period”) for a full refund, unless visits have been made.
